Velenje, 04 February (STA) - The American appliances manufacturer Sub-Zero Group will become the exclusive distributor for Gorenje's white appliances in North America in April after the two companies signed a long-term partnership agreement on distribution of Gorenje's premium brand Asko, the Velenje-based company announced on Tuesday.
Sub Zero Group will be the exclusive distributor for Asko dishwashers as well as for washing and drying machines in North America.
Asko is Gorenje's white appliances premium brand, which represents the group in global markets. After the Nordic countries and Australia, North America and especially the US are one of the key markets for the brand.
The partnership is a strategic move to reinforce Gorenje's presence in the markets outside Europe and increase upmarket sales, Gorenje said in a press release.
Gorenje's CEO Franjo Bobinac believes Sub-Zero is a perfect partner for Gorenje and Asko premium brand. Gorenje generates over 90% of its turnover in Europe but the long-term partnership with the American home appliances giant will change this figure as they aim to reinforce their global presence, he said.
Sub-Zero Group is a leading cooking and cooling appliances manufacturer in North America. By taking over the distribution of Slovenian white appliances, the group will cover a major part of the household appliances market.
"Both companies were started some six decades ago by entrepreneurs with a vision for quality, performance and design. So we share a rich heritage and very similar values with Asko," Sub-Zero president and CEO Jim Bakke commented on the partnership agreement.
