Ljubljana, 29 August (STA) - The survey unemployment rate in Slovenia retreated by 1.5 percentage points to 9.3% in the second quarter of 2014 from the quarter before, confirming the improvement on the jobs market picked up in recent months by the registered unemployment rate.
The survey unemployment rate among men stood at 8.5% and among women at 10.2% in the second quarter, according to data released by the Statistics Office on Friday.
The improvement on the jobs market, which has been identified already with the registered rate, the core gauge for unemployment in Slovenia, has now been confirmed with the ILO-compatible standard for measuring joblessness.
The registered unemployment rate stood at 12.8% in June and is on a four-month decline after peaking at 14.2% in January.
The survey unemployment data found the number of people who had a job in the second quarter rising by 34,000 over the quarter before to 930,000. The manufacturing sector showed the biggest growth with 8,000 new jobs (for a total of 209,000).
The number of people of out a job dropped by 13,000, which is 12.3% less than in the quarter before.
