Koper, 16 March (STA) - Slovakian President Ivan Gasparovic wrapped up his two-day visit to Slovenia on Tuesday with a visit to the Koper port together with his Slovenian counterpart Danilo Tuerk. The pair and representatives of the Luka Koper operator discussed possibilities for expanding cooperation.
According to a press release from Luka Koper, Slovenia's sole commercial port was also visited in the morning by a large business delegation from Slovakia.
Slovakia presents one of the most important inland markets for Luka Koper, which is why the company from Koper opened a branch office in Bratislava this year.
The two countries have an agreement on the use of the Koper port and Luka Koper sent 587,476 tonnes of goods to Slovakia last year, the operator said.
Business cooperation has been a central point of Gasparovic's visit. The two presidents attended a Slovenian-Slovakian business conference at Brdo pri Kranju on Monday.
