Ljubljana, 05 July (STA) - A total of 98,187 people were registered with the Employment Service end of June, which is 0.2% less than a month before, but still 13.5% more year-on-year. In the first half of 2010, 27,023 people found jobs, which is 26.8% more than in the same period last year.
The average number of the registered unemployed in the first half of the year was 99,029, which is 22.6% more year-on-year.
In June, the Employment Service registered 6,840 new jobless people, 0.8% more on May and 17.3% less year-on year. 762 of them were looking for their first job, 1,543 were made redundant and 2,640 did not get their contracts extended.
Demand for workers grew in June, as employers registered 16,110 free posts, which is 17.7% more than in May and 11.3% more year-on-year.
In the first six months of the year, the number of registered free posts grew by 2.3% year-on-year to 82,242.
Compared to the same period last year, the demand for workers was higher in manufacturing (+33.8%), in expert, scientific and technical activities (+30%), in water and environment management (+13.6%), and in information and communication activities (+10.1%).
The biggest decline in demand was meanwhile in recorded in construction (-18.4%), in agriculture, forestry and fisheries (-15.7%) and in public administration, defence and social services (-13.6%).
