Ljubljana, 16 March (STA) - Slovenia's registered unemployment rate for January 2010 stood at 10.6%, which is 0.3 percentage points more than a month earlier. The registered jobless total stood at 99,591, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
Unemployment among men stood at 10%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points on December 2009, whereas among women it rose 0.2 percentage points to 11.4%.
In January, the number of unemployed people rose by 2,900, with three-quarters of the newly unemployed being men.
The number of people in employment stood at 836,672, including 86,384 self-employed persons. The number of people in employment represents a 1% drop on December 2009 and a 4.1% drop year-on-year.
The biggest drops in the number of employed people were registered in the regions of Podravje (NE), Osrednjeslovensko (central) and Savinjsko (central).
