Ljubljana, 16 July (STA) - After a month of decrease, average net monthly pay in Slovenia increased by 0.9% to EUR 996.62 in May, which is a 1.4% increase year-on-year. The average gross pay stood at EUR 1535.93, a 1.1% rise in monthly comparison and a 1.3% increase year-on-year, the Statistics Office said on Monday.
The highest growth of average monthly gross pay was recorded in mining, where it rose by 14.9% compared to April. Electricity, gas and steam supply, and manufacturing follow with the rises of 6.5% and 3.9%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the average monthly gross pay dropped the most in financial and insurance activities (by 4.4%), real estate activities (by 1.3%) and in health care and social security (by 1%).
The average gross pay rose in all statistical regions in May, most notably in Notranjsko-Kraško (by 3.7%) and Pomurje (by 2.4%). The increase was the lowest in central Slovenia (by 0.2%) and Koroško (by 0.5%).
Those employed in the private sector received 1.4% higher pay in May compared to April (EUR 1396.65 gross on average), while those working in the public sector saw their pay rise by 0.7% to EUR 1790.07.
