Ljubljana, 15 April (STA) - The Slovenian branch of Austrian insurer Wiener Städtische finished 2012 with a profit of EUR 3.1m and saw an 11% rise in premiums, which stood at EUR 23.2m. This is the second consecutive profitable year for the insurer which arrived in Slovenia in 2004.
The Austrian insurer managed to increase premiums despite a general drop in premiums on the Slovenian market by 2.7% in 2012, according to data from the Slovenian Insurance Association.
Life insurance has been accounting for two-thirds of Wiener Städtische's revenues in Slovenia since the company's arrival to the country. The scope of this type of insurance rose by 4.6% to EUR 15.6m last year.
Property insurance premiums were also up last year, by 28% to EUR 7.6m.
The head of the insurer's Ljubljana branch, Tomo Mrđen, said he was happy with the results.
