LTH Castings, a producer of aluminum transmission, engine steering and brake system components for the automotive industry, has competed the construction of highly automated new tool shop in Trata near Škofja Loka. The new tool shop is the largest and most advanced facility of its kind in Slovenia. The company invested 50 million in the plant which employs 380 people.
LTH Castings is one of Europe's largest high pressure die cast aluminum components manufacturers that supplies major automotive brands like Mercedes Benz and BMW. Apart from car components, LTH Castings is also an important developer and supplier of die casting tools, specialized in development and production of die-casting tools up to 30 metric tons in weight, trimming tools and complex clamping devices.
The new tool shop in Trata includes manufacturing and R&D facilities focusing on development, prototyping and tool design. The state-of-the-art equipment of the tool shop includes apparatuses like 3D-metal printers and high-precision 3D scanning and measurement systems.
Trata's plant is one of the LTH Castings Group’s six production sites in Slovenia, Croatia and Macedonia. Overall, LTH Castings employs around 3,200 people. The company is growing fast: revenues have went from 176 million in 2015 to 299 million euros last year (or 321 million if we take into account every company in the group). The sixty year old company had been owned by Austrian and UK partners before being bought out by the management in 2009. Since the buyout the company has invested over 280 million in new facilities and equipment.
