For the third consecutive year running, Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) has joined forces with the Slovenia Times, the only English language newspaper in Slovenia to acknowledge foreign investors who have made a significant economic commitment to Slovenia.
On the 6th of November 2008, the luxurious comfort of the Kempinski Palace Portorož with its fresh new look, the blossom of the »port of roses« took on a journey through time, from its beginnings at the turn of the 19th century marked by the Secession period, followed by »Art Nouveau«, »Bauhas«, »Cubism« and »Art Deco« at the award ceremony for the third Foreign Direct Investor of the Year Award.
The purpose of selecting a foreign investor of the year is to highlight those Slovenian companies with a foreign capital in Slovenia whose presence in the market has a significant impact on the Slovenian economy, the competitiveness of the Slovenian market and on the broader social environment.
The Evaluation Committee of 5 Members selected those companies who, in 2007, recorded positive growth indexes for staff numbers and overall revenues, employed more than 10 employees and generated at least 10% of their sales in foreign markets. The Committee placed the greatest emphasis on the following criteria: long-term potential of the investment, its positive impact on the development of the Slovenian economy and its broader social relevance within the community.
